What the AC rating measures
AC ratings measure resistance to abrasion, impact and stains under standardised testing, from AC4 (residential/light commercial) up to AC6 (heavy commercial use).
AC4 and AC5 for homes
AC4 is usually enough for bedrooms and living rooms with normal use. AC5 adds a margin of safety for hallways, kitchens or homes with pets and heavy foot traffic.
AC6 for offices and businesses
AC6 is recommended for offices, shops and communal areas that see continuous daily traffic, where a lower class would wear out faster than expected.
